Fanling North New Development Areas First Phase - Fanling Bypass Eastern Section (Shek Wu San Tsuen North and Lung Yeuk Tau) received Martin Barnes Awards

Fanling Bypass Eastern Section is one of the crucial infrastructures of the Fanling North New Development Area. It provides a connection between the Fanling North New Development Area and Fanling Highway to cope with the additional traffic demand arisen from the development and upkeep the traffic condition at an acceptable level there. This contract involves the construction of a 2-kilometer long carriageway, including viaduct, at-grade road and underpass, as well as other associated facilities.
During the course of construction, we faced many challenges and constraints, such as implementing temporary traffic arrangement in busy major road junction, constructing underpass in area with congested underground utilities and carrying out bored piling works in the vicinity of the residences. Through holding the spirit of mutual trust and collaboration promoted by the New Engineering Contract (NEC), the above challenges have been overcome and the works are smoothly implemented. Our efforts are highly recognised by the NEC User Group and its expert judging panel. With fierce competition among other mega-sized projects worldwide, we received runner-up for the "NEC Transport Project of the Year" and highly-commended award for the "NEC Contractor of the Year".
