The Automated System for Concrete Cube Testing developed by the Public Works Laboratories received a Certificate of Merit in the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Grand Award 2023 - Industrial Category

The HKIE Grand Award 2023 aims to recognise the achievements and contributions of the engineering profession towards the development of Hong Kong. Our team in the Public Works Laboratories (PWL) is very delighted that our newly developed Automated System for Concrete Cube Testing received a Certificate of Merit in the Industrial Category of the Award.
Co-developed with the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre Limited, the system is capable of fully automating the whole process from concrete cube curing to compression testing, which greatly enhances the efficiency and quality of our testing services to meet the increasing testing demand from infrastructure projects in Hong Kong. In this project, PWL explored and adopted various advanced technologies such as high-precision robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning.
