The Civil Engineering and Development Department signed a contract of about HK$6.08 billion on 21 August 2024 with CRBC - Build King Joint Venture for construction of Trunk Road T4 in Sha Tin and associated works.

The approx. 2.3km-long Trunk Road T4 will link up the trunk roads on both sides of the Shing Mun River Channel connecting to Sha Tin Road in the east and Shing Mun Tunnel Road/Tsing Sha Highway in the west, forming an integral part of the overall traffic network planning in New Territories East. Upon commissioning the direct route of Trunk Road T4 will not only facilitate saving of journey time, but also unleash the capacity of the road network in Sha Tin District, enhancing public convenience and mobility. Meanwhile, the two associated slip roads will provide an additional alternative route for over 100 000 residents living in the Sha Tin town centre area and further comprehend the local road network.

The works will commence in August 2024 for completion in 6 years.
