Public Works Laboratories Automated Testing Building Open Day - celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of CEDD
The Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) of the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) is organising the Public Works Laboratories Automated Testing Building Open Day, as one of the celebratory events for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of CEDD.
In this event, the services provided by the Public Works Laboratories will be introduced. In particular, our newly developed automated systems for concrete cube, steel rebar and soil testing will be demonstrated to the participants. The automated systems have adopted numerous robotic and automation technologies as well as the application of artificial intelligence and computer vision analysis aiming at enhancing the operational efficiency and the quality of the construction materials testing services.
Moreover, there will also be demonstration of materials testing related to our daily life as well as game booth to enable members of the public to have a better understanding of the construction materials testing services provided by CEDD to the Hong Kong construction industry.

Application Procedures:
- Please submit your completed Application Form through e-mail to pwl_openday2024@cedd.gov.hk. Applications will be handled on a first-come-first-served basis. In the event of any disputes, the decision of the Department shall be final.
- Upon receipt of the application, an email confirmation will be issued to the applicant. Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of the application result via email.
