Seminar Highlight:
One-third of Hong Kong's man-made slopes, about 20,000, are maintained by private slope owners. In Hong Kong, lack of maintenance is a major contributory factor to many landslides. As such, the Government has strongly encouraged voluntary slope maintenance by private slope owners to enhance slope safety. From time to time, the Civil Engineering Development Department has received queries from slope owners/property management companies on slope maintenance issues. Private slope owners and property management companies are cordially invited to attend this seminar arranged by the Civil Engineering and Development Department with the aim to enhance owner's knowledge on slope maintenance and inspection. The updates of the Geoguide 5 – Guide to Slope Maintenance (Fourth Edition), which was published in November 2023, will also be discussed.
