The Pedestrian Street Naming Competition for Grid Neighborhood within Kai Tak Development, organised by the Civil Engineering and Development Department, has concluded successfully with the results announced at an award presentation ceremony today (March 8).

Officiating at the ceremony, the Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr Daniel Chung, said, "The Competition received an overwhelming response with more than 900 entries. Most of the entries are very creative and can demonstrate the unique local identity of the Grid Neighbourhood.

"The winning entries in the Open and Student Groups not only match the theme of the Kai Tak Development, but also reflect the expectation of the participants in the project and promote the virtues of helping and caring for one another."

Located at the centre of the Kai Tak Development area, the Grid Neighbourhood is a major community in the Kai Tak Development project. The Competition invited suggestions on creative Chinese names for the 10 pedestrian routes in the Grid Neighbourhood to serve as a reference for the project in the future.

Members of the jury panel were the Vice Chairman of the Kowloon City District Council, Mr Cho Wui-hung; Kowloon City District Council member (Kai Tak South), Mr He Hua-han; Kowloon City District Council member (Kai Tak North), Ms Leung Yuen-ting; District Officer (Kowloon City), Mr William Tsui; and the acting Vice President (Research and Development) of The Hong Kong Institute of Education, Professor Lui Tai-lok.

The list of winners is available on the Competition website (www.ktd-streetnaming.hk).
