Brief Description of Project :
- It was announced in the Chief Executive's 2021 Policy Address that the technical studies for the proposed pier projects at Deep Water Bay and Tai Shue Wan (TSW) would commence. Prior to the completion of the proposed pier at TSW, the CEDD has provided a landing facility in the form of floating pontoon since August 2022 for for offering opportunity for more waterborne connections within the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter and with other coastal areas.
- The operation of the landing facility is currently managed by the Ocean Park Corporation (OPC) for public use every day. Details, including the opening hours, can be referred to the OPC's webpage:
- The floating pontoon, with dimensions of 42m (length) x 15m (width) x 2.3m (height) and installed with a 18.5m-long gangway, is secured in place by an anchor and tieback system comprising four vertical spuds and six concrete sinkers. The pontoon can accommodate berthing of vessels with a maximum size of 21.64m (length) x 5.68m (width) and a maximum of 66 gross tonnage / 33 net tonnage, whichever is smaller. During typhoon, adverse weather or strong wave conditions, the pontoon will be closed and towed to a typhoon shelter to ensure public safety. Announcement about the closure of the pontoon will be made on the OPC's website.
