C&D materials are mixtures of inert and non-inert material. The inert C&D material comprising rocks, concrete, asphalt, rubbles, bricks, stones and earth is collectively called "public fill". Since the material will not decompose and is therefore suitable for use as fill in reclamation projects. The non-inert C&D material comprises bamboo, timber, plastics and packaging material. It is collectively called "C&D waste" and is disposed of at landfills.
The split between inert and non-inert C&D materials is about 9:1.
For the operation of barging points, the measures taken include:
- access road paved with hard-core
- regular watering on access road and road sweeper for dust / soil removal
- water spraying system at combined reception and exit office
- fully enclosed canopy
- water curtain spraying system for dust suppression during material unloading
- automatic wheel washing facility
- landscaping inside the site
