Abstract

This report was edited from a chapter of the study "Review of contaminated mud disposal strategy and status report on contaminated mud disposal facility at East Sha Chau" by Dr. K.C. Ng of the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO). The review re-evaluated the present focus on confined marine disposal as a disposal option for dredged material in Hong Kong, re-assessed the suitability of the East Sha Chau site as the preferred disposal site and identified the advantages and disadvantages of this site compared to other notional sites, and evaluated the management structures in place for the disposal programme.
