Report Title : Investigation of Some Selected Landslides in 1998 (Volume 2) (2001), 201 p.

Abstract
This GEO Report consists of three Landslide Study Reports on the investigation of selected slope failures that occurred in 1998. The investigations were carried out by Fugro Scott Wilson Joint Venture (FSW) for the Geotechnical Engineering Office as part of the 1998 Landslide Investigation Consultancy.
Section 1 of the report presents the findings of a detailed study of distress observed in fill slope No. 11NE-D/F10 located below Hiu Kwong Street, Sau Mau Ping, on 9 April 1998. The distress comprised cracking, displacement and bulging of the shotcrete cover to the upper batter of the slope, and was observed following the reporting of seepage from the toe of the slope.
Section 2 of the report presents the findings of a detailed study of a landslide (GEO Incident No. ME 98/6/10) which occurred on 9 June 1998 in a fill slope below Au Tau Village Road, near Tsui Lam Estate at Tsueng Kwan O. Debris from the landslide was deposited on the natural hillside below, extending almost to the crest of rock cut slopes adjacent to Tsui Lam Estate at one location. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
Section 3 of the report presents the findings of a detailed study of three slope failures within an unauthorised pulverised fuel ash (PFA) fill slope at Siu Lang Shui, Tuen Mun, on 9 June 1998. The fill slope forms an L-shaped extension to a cut platform. The main landslide area is approximately 60 m wide, 30 m long, and 2 m deep, involving a failed mass of about 1,000 m3 in volume. Debris from the landslide reached Lung Mun Road. No fatalities or injuries were reported.
