Report Title : Soil Moisture Conditions in Vegetated Cut Slopes and Possible Implications for Stability (2003), 48 p.
Author : N.C. Evans & J.S. Lam
Abstract
Vegetation has always been the preferred surface cover option for slopes constructed or upgraded by CED, and is now increasingly being used by other Works Departments. Coupled with the rapid increase in numbers of LPM slopes in recent years, and improved technology for greening slopes, this has led to a large increase in the numbers of slopes with vegetated covers.
This Report discusses how vegetated covers might affect slope stability, looks at the performance record of vegetated LPM slopes in Hong Kong, and makes some recommendations on design issues and future research. The Report is restricted to soil cut slopes.
