Abstract

This report presents the findings of a detailed study of a rockfall incident (GEO Incident No. 2002/03/0012), with a failure volume of about 0.1 m³, on cut slope No. 11NW A/C61 adjacent to Castle Peak Road, Kwai Chung which was recently upgraded under the LPM Programme in June 2000. The rockfall incident occurred at about 10:15 a.m. on 23 March 2002, when the Amber Rainstorm Warning was hoisted. Most of the debris fell onto the footpath at the toe of the slope and the remainder fell onto the road causing temporary closure of one of the road lanes. No casualties were reported as a result of the incident.
